2nd Annual Tuskawilla Tussle Scholarship
The Second Annual Scholarship Fund was another success for 2016. Co-sponsored by LaForest Wealth Management and Gator's Dockside, the scholarship fund was able to raise monies through T-shirt sales in the community and donations by the sponsors that will provide scholarship monies to select students at both Lake Howell and Winter Springs High Schools. The Tuskawilla Tussle is the annual rivalry football game between the two schools and this year was no disappointment as Lake Howell beat Winter Springs in a thriller 56-42.
The recipients will be announced this spring and will be awarded to two student athletes, one male and one female from each school that earned two letters in a sport and graduated with the highest GPA.
Tuskawilla Tussle Scholarship Announced
LaForest Wealth Management and Gator's Dockside-Winter Springs co-founded the "Tuskawilla Tussle" Athletic and Academic Scholarship Fund this past year. On May 20th, the winners were announced at the Winter Springs/Lake Howell High School Spring Football Game. The "Tuskawilla Tussle" is the name given to the rivalry between the two schools that dates back to 2009. Both schools are separated by 5 miles down Tuskawilla Road. The scholarship awards both a male and female from each school that has excelled both on and off of the field.
This year's recipients are from Winter Springs: Alexa Taylor (pictured) a member of the swim and water polo teams and graduated with a 4.4 GPA and Daniel Singer, a member of the cross country and track teams and graduated with a 4.5 GPA. From Lake Howell: Adam Wing (pictured) a member of the LaCrosse team and graduated with a 4.4 GPA and McKenzie Graham, a member of the swim team and graduated with a 4.3 GPA.
All four individuals received a check in the amount of $500 that was raised by donations from both LaForest Wealth Management and Gator's Dockside along with proceeds from t-shirt sales promoting the rivalry.

2015 Gridiron Scholarship Recipient Announced
LaForest Wealth Management is honored to announce the annual receipient of the Gridiron Scholarship that is awarded to an outstanding senior football player at Lake Howell High School that is graduating with the highest GPA. Congratulations Breven Dalsemer !!
"Breven has been a resilent young man who has dedicated his time both on and off the field", said Daniel LaForest, President of LaForest Weath Managment, "It has been an honor in getting to know him and his parents, Steve and Kelly. It is a great thrill to be involved in this community and watching young men like Breven grow into promising adults.".
As a letterman on the football team, he has shown his dedication to the team as a player and leader. He has also accumulated a 4.033 GPA and plans on attending Florida State University in the Fall.
LaForest Wealth Management and Gator's Dockside-Winter Springs partner to be Award Scholarships to Local High School Students
LaForest Wealth Management and Gator’s Dockside Winter Springs announce that they are teaming up to create a local scholarship fund that will be awarded to area athletes recognizing their outstanding accomplishments in the classroom and on the field.
These scholarships will be available to graduating male and female high school seniors at Lake Howell High School and Winter Springs High School that have the highest GPA, showed promise in leadership, and have lettered at least two years on their Varsity teams.
“This is a great opportunity and engage with the community and assist young adults that have worked so hard to prepare for college,” said Daniel LaForest, President of LaForest Wealth Management. “As a former student-athlete, I understand the struggles and pressure of performing both on and off of the field.”
Both parties will be starting the fund with a contribution of $500 each. Gator’s Dockside has agreed to add additional funding to the scholarship fund by offering 10% of food purchases for those who announce that they are supporting the scholarship to their server. “It is a pleasure to be part of this exciting opportunity,” said Steve Snow, General Manager of Gator’s Dockside-Winter Springs, “our sports themed restaurant has been active in this community for years and this is just another way to say thank you to those who support us.” In addition, there will be a “Tuskawilla Tussle” spirit shirt that will be sold at both schools and all proceeds will support the fund.
“The rivalry between Winter Springs and Lake Howell may have just hit another level. Thanks to these local businesses, students at both schools will be able to show off their spirit and pride at a whole other level. At the end of the day, both schools win,” said Danya Harris, Athletic Director at Lake Howell High School.
The rivalry is well established between these two schools beginning when Winter Springs High School was built in 1997 and the re-zoning took many students from Lake Howell High School. “I have had the pleasure of working at both of these fine schools,” said Steven Luppert, Athletic Director of Winter Springs High School, “having local businesses involved with the development of our students has been a goal of mine since I have arrived at Winter Springs. It is great to see the community act as one.”

Local High School Senior Receives 2nd Annual Entrepreneurship Scholarship
LaForest Wealth Management congratulates Caleb Holaday of Lake Howell High School. Caleb was selected by his piers to the "Hawks Wall of Fame" for his active role in business entrepreneurship, community service, and promise as a future leader in the community.
LaForest Wealth Management is proud to award Caleb with the second annual scholarship in the amount of $250 to be used as he attends Florida State University in the fall of 2015. Caleb is interested in pursing Business and/or Industrial Engineering.

Local High School Students receives Scholarship for his efforts on and off the field
LaForest Wealth Management is honored to present the 2nd annual Student-Athlete Award to Caleb Kelly of Lake Howell High School. This scholarship is awarded to the senior football player with the highest GPA on the team. He also will be graduating in the top 10% of his class.
Caleb will be taking his football talents to Maine as he will be signing a letter of intent with Colby College.
